Psalm 101-104

“I will sing of your love and justice; to you, LORD, I will sing praise. I will be careful to lead a blameless life— when will you come to me? I will conduct the affairs of my house with a blameless heart.

My eyes will be on the faithful in the land, that they may dwell with me; the one whose walk is blameless will minister to me.” – Psalm‬ ‭101:1-2, 6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“Hear my prayer, LORD; let my cry for help come to you. Do not hide your face from me when I am in distress. Turn your ear to me; when I call, answer me quickly.
Let this be written for a future generation, that a people not yet created may praise the LORD: “The LORD looked down from his sanctuary on high, from heaven he viewed the earth, to hear the groans of the prisoners and release those condemned to death.” So the name of the LORD will be declared in Zion and his praise in Jerusalem when the peoples and the kingdoms assemble to worship the LORD.
But you remain the same, and your years will never end.” – Psalm‬ ‭102:1-2, 18-22, 27‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“Praise the LORD, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all his benefits— who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever; he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him; for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust. The life of mortals is like grass, they flourish like a flower of the field; the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more. But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children— with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts. The LORD has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all. Praise the LORD, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey his word. Praise the LORD, all his heavenly hosts, you his servants who do his will. Praise the LORD, all his works everywhere in his dominion. Praise the LORD, my soul.” – Psalm‬ ‭103:1-5, 8-22‬ ‭NIV

“Praise the LORD, my soul. LORD my God, you are very great; you are clothed with splendor and majesty.
and lays the beams of his upper chambers on their waters. He makes the clouds his chariot and rides on the wings of the wind. He makes winds his messengers, flames of fire his servants. He set the earth on its foundations; it can never be moved.
You set a boundary they cannot cross; never again will they cover the earth.
The lions roar for their prey and seek their food from God.
All creatures look to you to give them their food at the proper time. When you give it to them, they gather it up; when you open your hand, they are satisfied with good things.
When you send your Spirit, they are created, and you renew the face of the ground.
I will sing to the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live. May my meditation be pleasing to him, as I rejoice in the LORD.” – Psalm‬ ‭104:1, 3-5, 9, 21, 27-28, 30, 33-34‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Prayer for Today

Lord You are truly everlasting!!! Amazing that the beasts of the field cry out for You to satisfy their hunger. So much more should we. You are the one who takes care of us, not the economy and  not the political party. (although that might be true for some) God my focus should be on You and to do Your will. I pray for the men that I spend some time with yesterday. I pray for their souls. May they thirst for You like the do for fun, beer, laughter, companionship and steaks. I am not worthy to be called Your son, but still You sent Your Son to die for me on the cross. As I need daily sustenance to stay alive physically, how much more do I need spiritual sustenance daily !!! Amen

INTRODUCING GOD

Check out this site to put things into perspective – http://htwins.net/scale2/

These broad yet compelling features of God reveal Him as the author of creation and the

caring, involved guide for our journey through life to eternity.

1. God’s Creativity (Read Genesis 1:1-27)

a. God’s creativity is revealed in the heavens and the earth (the sun, stars, skies,

weather, land formations, oceans, gravity, plants, animals, colors, shapes, etc.)

b. God’s creativity is revealed in the creatures of the sea (compare star formations

and the ½ inch seahorse)

c. God’s creativity is revealed in human beings (our diversity and ability to be creative)

2. God’s Glory (Read Psalm 19:1-6)

a. The creation shouts a message of an intelligent creator who cannot be ignored

b. The creation tells us of God’s majestic qualities

3. God’s Engineering (Read Job 39:13-18)

a. Consider an ostrich who lays her eggs in the open ground. She lacks wisdom to

protect her young, yet her offspring survive

b. Consider the defensive abilities of other creatures or the human eye

4. God’s Vastness (Read Psalm 8:3-5)

a. Consider the immensity of God’s work in the creation

􀁸 It is estimated that more than 100 billion galaxies exist (See Appendix: The Vast

Universe)

􀁸 It is very humbling that God focuses on us and cares for us, even though we are

seemingly insignificant

5. God’s Omnipresence (Read Hebrews 4:12-13)

a. Omnipresence means that God is present everywhere, even when we were in our

mother’s womb (Psalm 139:13-16)

b. The all-seeing eye of God reveals everything, both good and bad (Hebrews 4:13)

c. We can’t run or hide from God; we will one day have to give an account to this great

God

6. God’s Love (Read 1 John 4:7-10)

a. God displayed His love for us by providing the ultimate gift of Jesus

b. God’s love is consistent, selfless and in no way manipulative
