Psalm 113 – 114

“The LORD is exalted over all the nations, his glory above the heavens. Who is like the LORD our God, the One who sits enthroned on high, who stoops down to look on the heavens and the earth?

He settles the childless woman in her home as a happy mother of children. Praise the LORD.” – ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭113:4-6, 9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“Tremble, earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob, who turned the rock into a pool, the hard rock into springs of water.” – Psalm‬ ‭114:7-8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Practical Application

Amazing that God feels what we feel. Being a father of a childless woman before I can see what emotions and longing God built into women to have a child of their own. God in the end after many adoption failures, AI’s and an invitro has blessed us with a wonderful daughter who is full of energy. She definately makes our lives so full and everybody if not most enjoy her.

God can do miracles in your life as well. I am thinking of that scripture that says if we love Him He will give us the desires of our hearts.

Prayer for Today

Lord You truly are a compassionate God. You know us inside and out. We praise You for your love a foreknowledge in our lives. You have a plan with our lives teaching us different things.

Help me to be humble in circumstances that You put me in and make just the best of them. To be able to enjoy my life with the wife that I love. To relax and build friendships that will last for eternity.

God I am exited to draw close to you and looking forward to new beginnings with You. You have always taken care of me and my family. Help me always to finish strong and to do my best. Amen

Psalm 105-106

“Give praise to the LORD, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done. Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts. Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.

He remembers his covenant forever, the promise he made, for a thousand generations,
When they were but few in number, few indeed, and strangers in it,
“Do not touch my anointed ones; do my prophets no harm.”
till what he foretold came to pass, till the word of the LORD proved him true.
The LORD made his people very fruitful; he made them too numerous for their foes, whose hearts he turned to hate his people, to conspire against his servants.
He spread out a cloud as a covering, and a fire to give light at night. They asked, and he brought them quail; he fed them well with the bread of heaven. He opened the rock, and water gushed out; it flowed like a river in the desert. For he remembered his holy promise given to his servant Abraham. He brought out his people with rejoicing, his chosen ones with shouts of joy; he gave them the lands of the nations, and they fell heir to what others had toiled for— that they might keep his precepts and observe his laws. Praise the LORD.” – Psalm‬ ‭105:1-3, 8, 12, 15, 19, 24-25, 39-45‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“Praise the LORD. Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.

But they soon forgot what he had done and did not wait for his plan to unfold. In the desert they gave in to their craving; in the wilderness they put God to the test. So he gave them what they asked for, but sent a wasting disease among them.
They exchanged their glorious God for an image of a bull, which eats grass. They forgot the God who saved them, who had done great things in Egypt,
So he said he would destroy them— had not Moses, his chosen one, stood in the breach before him to keep his wrath from destroying them. Then they despised the pleasant land; they did not believe his promise. They grumbled in their tents and did not obey the LORD.
They yoked themselves to the Baal of Peor and ate sacrifices offered to lifeless gods;
But Phinehas stood up and intervened, and the plague was checked.
By the waters of Meribah they angered the LORD, and trouble came to Moses because of them; for they rebelled against the Spirit of God, and rash words came from Moses’ lips. They did not destroy the peoples as the LORD had commanded them, but they mingled with the nations and adopted their customs. They worshiped their idols, which became a snare to them. They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to false gods.
They defiled themselves by what they did; by their deeds they prostituted themselves.
He gave them into the hands of the nations, and their foes ruled over them. Their enemies oppressed them and subjected them to their power. Many times he delivered them, but they were bent on rebellion and they wasted away in their sin. Yet he took note of their distress when he heard their cry; for their sake he remembered his covenant and out of his great love he relented. He caused all who held them captive to show them mercy.” – Psalm‬ ‭106:1, 13-15, 20-21, 23-25, 28, 30, 32-37, 39, 41-46‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Pray for Today

Morning Father. It is good to praise You early in the morning. It is also good to remember how good you are to Your people. You truly care for us, feed us, clothe us and listen to us. Father You will always love us, even disciple us to get back to You when we have gone astray. May our hearts be drawn towards You and not towards sin. We exchange You for images and possessions.

Help me to stand in the breach for our South Africans. So many of us are godless or just religious which is just idol worship, we do not worship the real God but has made up a god that fulfills our needs, wants and that suit us. I pray that we might be the ones who always do what is right. I am reading a book about thinking, may our thoughts please you and brings us closer to live in Your Glory which You planned for us. Amen

Psalm 84 – 87

“How lovely is your dwelling place, LORD Almighty! My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the LORD; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.

Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.” – ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭84:1-2, 10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“You forgave the iniquity of your people and covered all their sins.

Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?” – ‭Psalm‬ ‭85:2, 6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“Bring joy to your servant, Lord, for I put my trust in you.

Teach me your way, LORD, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.
But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.” – ‭Psalm‬ ‭86:4, 11, 15‬

Do you have a special place where you spend time with God in the morning ? It really makes a difference when you out in nature or buildings where you fell you can connect with God. When I went to uni there was two places that I love to go and read my Bible and pray they were the botanical gardens and there was a Protea hotel in Sunnyside Pretoria that had a water feature that had the same effect as a waterfall next to the pool. It takes you away from the husstle and bussle of the day and you can just be at peace in a quiet surroundings.

Do you appreciate being forgiven? Do you believe you are forgiven? Do you know God’s plan for salvation works? Here is a few verses:

  1. Rom 10:17
  2. Rom 3:23
  3. Acts 2:38
  4. Col 2:12
  5. Mat 28:18-20
  6. Acts 22:16

What do you put ur trust in to bring you joy? Is it that end of the month paycheck? Is it that overseas holiday in the Alps skiing? The Bible says we need to be thankful in all circumstances, for that is God’s will for us in Christ Jesus. Tough one hey, how about being falsely accused? How about your boss being out to fire you? Challenging!!! I think if we have a Godly perspective we can be thankful always , because we know God has our best interests at heart.

Wow, an undivided heart. Not for the faint hearted or weak willed. Truly if we submit to God can we have a undevided heart. He is our first love and we want to please Him first. We do what we love. I think it is Steve Jobs that said you worked your last day at work when you do what you love.

Compassionate, gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness. What a God we serve!!!! Who in their right minds would not want a relationship with God!!! I guess only those who don’t know Him, sad sad. So it is our job to make Him known!! Get on with it!!

We believe in the great commission

“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”” – Mat 28:18-20‬ ‭NIV‬‬

We believe in Family

““A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”” – John‬ ‭13:34-35‬ ‭NIV‬‬

We believe in “The Gospel”

“And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. – ‭‭Mat ‭24:14‬ ‭NIV‬‬

I declare to you the gospel, by which you are saved. Christ died for our sins, he was buried, he rose again – 1 Cor 15:1-4

When you are baptised in Christ Jesus, you are buried with him through baptism into death so that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the farther, you too may live a new life

If you have been united with him in a death like his,you will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his – Rom 6:3-6

One Thing I do

What is the one important thing that you do ?

But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, (Philippians 3:13 NIV)

Inspection

Who has gone to the army ?

That is where you get up at 5 am to make your bed, clean the floor and make sure your clothes and “trommel” is neat.

That inspection will have one of two outcomes. If there is a lot of cutlery flying through the air on the first guy you will run a lot that day, if not you will still do a lot of running that day (smile).

Do our preparation in actions have an effect in our daily lives, even so at work?

So what is in my heart (emotions/soul) and mind (thoughts) about God. Those emotions and thoughts will determine my actions.

What does my daily conduct say about my faith? What does my deeds deserve ?

The two most obvious choices are; living for the world which 95% of people do or living for God that fills the rest.

So living for the world; what does that encapsulate? What is that saying “Money makes the world go round and round.”

What does Solomon the richest guy who ever lived say about money?

“Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income. This too is meaningless.” – ‭Ecc‬ ‭5:10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Do you have enough money? Are you happy with your salary? Wow, convicting hey!!!

Am I thankful in all circumstances ?

“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” – 1 Thes‬ ‭5:16-18‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Living for God starts the day by focussing on our most important relationship and that is love for God.

What is your prayer life like? Consistent, deep, meaningful?

“During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission.” – ‭‭Heb‬ ‭5:7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Man, what is my submission before God like ?

Why submit to God in this way?

“Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.” – ‭Phil‬ ‭2:12-13 NIV

If I am close to God He will work and act through His Holy Spirit in my live.

So if you were to rate your prayer life and give it a point out of 10, what will it be ito the following criteria?

  • Time spend
  • Petitions, loud cries & tears.
  • Consistency
  • Randomness
  • In situations
  • Structure
  • Priority

Feeling Blissful and Loved by God Continually

“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” – ‭‭Phil‬ ‭4:7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

How is that; peace that transcends understanding!!! So that means that even in a difficult situation you can have this peace!!! Wow !!!

I have been reading Ps 23 and it it such an inspiring, soothing, focussing on God psalm.

Just studying out the meaning also gives it such depth Psalm 23 Explained

Following another link Feeling connected with God, made me realize we can live in a state of bliss in a spiritual way.

I know that in a worldly way we can live in such a state temporarily but I almost feel guilty to live like that in a godly way.

When we get baptized for the forgiveness of our sins after we have repented and became a disciple we should feel this bliss all the time !!!

Sadly we don’t always.

What is it then that bogs us down and make us unhappy ?

Isn’t it the “The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful.” – Mat 13:22‬ ‭NIV‬‬

So not being fruitful is a sign that we are being choked!

Riggggght ! So what is the fruit that the bible is referring to ???

It can be: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” – Gal‬ ‭5:22-23, but to what end?

Is our lives only meant that we live a happy life by ourselves peaceful in the woods in a cabin, self sustained by a big lake and catching fish?

No, God would not allow us to live a selfish life with no end !!! I believe the fruits of the Spirit should lead to the other part of the greatest commandment, “The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”” – ‭Mark‬ ‭12:31‬ ‭NIV‬‬

How do I love myself? It is that picture by the lake, but with my neighbor. Pretty simple hey?

No, that involves sharing my faith (That is not an invitation to church), awkward talks, constantly following up, denying myself, even being rejected time and again by my neighbor because of God; even if he is very religious but not righteous.

How will I be able to to that? Only being part of God’s family that lives like that. We need the support, encouragement and likemindedness to be able to “Survive” / cope with non christian people.

Are you fulfilling your purpose that God commands you to do?

“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”” – Mat ‭28:18-20‬ ‭NIV‬‬

You might say but that was only meant for the apostles.

The bible says: “Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go.” – Mat‬ ‭28:16‬ ‭NIV‬‬

So Jesus was speaking to his disciples and telling them to go and make what ?

Disciple’s!!! So a disciple makes a disciple. Wow! An article for another day!

What happens then ?

You baptize the disciple. Why?

“Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” – Acts‬ ‭2:38‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Wow, for the forgiveness of your sins and the receipt of the Holy Spirit. Amazing!!!

Is that where it stops?

Nooooo, teaching them to obey. Why does it say that we need to be taught to obey? Because it is not natural in the world to love someone unconditionally, it is tough. That is why we need the Holy Spirit and our friends teaching us to obey.

Let’s wrap up.

We started with the need to have blissful peace and love in our lives. We thought we will attain it by a selfish life. We discovered that love; is not love if it not shared. We realize to share love is not that easy, but to conclude what the richest man that had everything his heart desired concluded.

“Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.”  – Ecc‬ ‭12:13-14‬ ‭NIV‬‬

It is about fearing God (A healthy respect) and keeping His commandments. And that my friends is our duty.

Do I please God?

Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God. (Romans 8:5-8 NIV)

Broken pottery with Christ shining His light through us

“Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” – ‭‭James‬ ‭5:16‬ ‭

How self aware are you ? (Do you acknowledge your weaknesses and struggles?)

Do you feel that you have to be perfect to follow Christ and receive His acceptance? (You might feel guilty or inadequate all the time)

What is ur understanding of grace ? (Being at peace with God and righteous)

Do you feel healthy spiritually and content? (You’re not up at night contemplating the meaning of life and why you are here)

“So I strive always to keep my conscience clear before God and man.” – Acts‬ ‭24:16‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ,” – ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭3:21‬ ‭NIV‬‬

So I think having a clear conscience by confessing our sins and shortcomings gives us peace before God and men.

Find someone who you trust and loves God and open up.

I am sure the ….

“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” – ‭‭Phil‬ ‭4:7‬ ‭NIV‬‬
