“They forgot what he had done, the wonders he had shown them.
But they continued to sin against him, rebelling in the wilderness against the Most High. They willfully put God to the test by demanding the food they craved.
When the LORD heard them, he was furious; his fire broke out against Jacob, and his wrath rose against Israel, for they did not believe in God or trust in his deliverance. – Psalm 78:11,17-18,21-22
- Not believe
“You are radiant with light, more majestic than mountains rich with game. It is you alone who are to be feared. Who can stand before you when you are angry?” – Psalm 76:4, 7 NIV
“You kept my eyes from closing; I was too troubled to speak. I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. The clouds poured down water, the heavens resounded with thunder; your arrows flashed back and forth. Your thunder was heard in the whirlwind, your lightning lit up the world; the earth trembled and quaked.” – Psalm 77:4, 11, 17-18 NIV
In spite of all this, they kept on sinning; in spite of his wonders, they did not believe. So he ended their days in futility and their years in terror. But then they would flatter him with their mouths, lying to him with their tongues; their hearts were not loyal to him, they were not faithful to his covenant. But they put God to the test and rebelled against the Most High; they did not keep his statutes. Like their ancestors they were disloyal and faithless, as unreliable as a faulty bow. And David shepherded them with integrity of heart; with skillful hands he led them.” – Psalm 78:11, 17-18, 21-22, 32-33, 36-37, 56-57,72 Niv
“Do not hold against us the sins of past generations; may your mercy come quickly to meet us, for we are in desperate need. Help us, God our Savior, for the glory of your name; deliver us and forgive our sins for your name’s sake. Why should the nations say, “Where is their God?” Before our eyes, make known among the nations that you avenge the outpoured blood of your servants.” – Psalm 79:8-10 NIV
Wow scary scriptures!!! A comparison only a hunter will appreciate “more radiant than, mountains full of game”. Is God still God in your life or has He just become another god. Asaph wanted to remember God’s deeds and His miracles. It makes sense because when we are reverent before God we will fear Him and obey His teachings. When we forget we will keep on sinning, rebelling, willfully test God and what cause it the did not believe in God or trust in His deliverance. The question is do I trust God today or try to sort out my life in every way not looking to His deliverance. If keep on not believing we will end our years in terror and futility. Do I flatter God with my tongue? Is my heart still loyal obeying His word? Disloyal, faithless and unreliable goes together. What does it take to lead people; integrity of heart.
Prayer for today
Morning Father I do pray that my trust will be in You and Your deliverance. I think many times my trust is in the situation and how I can handle things and not in You. You keep the universe in place how much more my ant of a life. I pray that I will have integrity of heart and not think I can con you into thinking that I am sincere. You know my life from beginning to end, you created me. I am your pot that you for’ like the scripture says I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Amen
Verse for the day
“Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails”
1 Cor 13:6-8 NIV (substitute your name with love)
“You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water. I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory. Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands.”
Psalm 63:1-4 NIV
Isn’t this a heartfelt psalm and letter to God. How often do we tell God how we feel about him or does He only hear our problems, frustration and plea for goods that we do not have. David truly understands that he needs God and cannot function without him, a true reflection of what a marriage should be like. How often do you tell your wife that you need her and like in a movie “you complete me”. Is God’s love better than life for you, does it show up in your schedule, your meetings, your relationships, your money and your time spent with God? How is your praising of God?
Lord truly you are the light of my life, I will praise you everyday singing in the car rather than put on the radio. On my bed at night I remember your. When I share the gospel with people I will long for you you and hope to introduce You to them. Please fill me with your zeal that I may represent you as a true ambassador of Christ. Help me to have a clear conscience by confessing my sin not just to You but people because that brings healing as the scriptures says. I long for you sincerely and look forward every day to spend time with you reading your love letter to me and praying and sharing with people what you mean to me. God help me to depend on your strenth and not to be self reliant because that is just pride in my heart. I love, love, love, love You and the gospel in a word is love. Amen
“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Jesus - John 14:6 NIV
Dis you do a scientific study on the subject ?
If you don’t believe in Jesus have you ever gone out to disprove the whole christian thing ?
Did you disprove beyond a shadow of a doubt that Jesus was not the Son of GOD?
Did you investigate the evidence and weighed the pros and cons?
What did the results show, that Christ must be who He claimed to be?
Did you make a decision about your findings?
The immediate reaction of many is, “You found what you wanted to find”. Is that the case?
Did I confirmed through investigation what I wanted to refute?
Why don’t you set out to disprove Christianity?
Do you currently have a biases and prejudices toward Christ without the facts?
““I am not insane, most excellent Festus,” Paul replied. “What I am saying is true and reasonable.” – Acts 26:25 NIV
‘For me, Christianity was not a “leap into the dark,” but rather “a step into the light”. I took the evidence that I could gather and put it on the scales.
The scales tipped the way of Christ being the Son of GOD and resurrected from the dead.
It was so overwhelmingly leaning to Christ that when I became a Christian, it was a “step into the light” rather tan a “leap into the darkness”‘
Because Christ is my Lord and Savior I can repent of my sin (which is a blessing), that is literary and spiritually killing me, become a disciple and get baptized for the forgiveness of my sin and receive the Holy Spirit.
Who of us has played risk the board game ? I used to love playing that game. You start either in one of South America of Australia and work your way around Africa, North America and Europe before going unto the big one Asia. I think Jesus also had a risk game strategy when it comes to the world. What is your world strategy ?
1. The conquest of the world is commanded. Do you have a world view when it comes to sharing the gospel ?
“He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” – Mark 16:15 NIV
2. The conquest is needed. Do I see people falling short of the glory of God.
“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” – Romans 3:23 NIV
3. The conquest is not impossible, it has already been done once. Do I get overwhelmed by the impossible task, remember what is impossible for us is possible for God.
“This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.” – Colossians 1:23 NIV
4. The time is ripe for the conquest. What do you see in faith? Is the harvest ripe for you ?
“Donʼt you have a saying, ‘Itʼs still four months until harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.” – John 4:35 NIV
5. The promise that God will be with us is conditional of our active participation in this conquest of, going and make disciples. Are you participating ? If not what other purpose in your life is more importaant than God’s purpose for you ?
“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”” – Matthew 28:18-20 NIV
What is your conquest that ur on ? Will yours last for eternity ?
